World Book Day costume ideas inspired by children across the North East

World Book Day is coming up, an annual event that is bound to either thrill or scare parents everywhere.

This year's event takes place on Thursday, March 3, and with less week to go, you might be wondering what character your child can go as.

With many children missing out last year as they were remote learning during the pandemic, most schools and nurseries are wanting to join in this year's fun.

Remember to send us in photos of your child for our 2022 World Book Day photo special in the Chronicle

Now if that fills you with dread, you have nothing to fear, as we've put together a list of some of our favourite World Book Day creations around the North East from years gone by.

These creative costumes are bound to inspire, and many are also easy to recreate at home for this year's event.
