A man who worked as an IT specialist for the Russian foreign ministry has been discovered dead in mysterious circumstances while on the job.
The individual, who was 42-years-old, fell from a "low height" and suffered head wounds in Moscow.
While the name of the official was not confirmed, it was noted that it was similar to the word " Ukraine," and one report indicated that he was named Mikhail Ukrainets.
This man's untimely death comes amid the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which has resulted in the deaths of a suspected 200,000 individuals over the course of almost a year.
The IT specialist was discovered in the offices of the Russian foreign ministry, which is led by veteran minister Sergei Lavrov, a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Despite initial reports suggesting that the individual had died of heart failure, the ChK-OGPU Telegram channel indicated that the software engineer had, in fact, fallen from his own height, and evidence indicated that there had been a blow to his head.
Furthermore, it was claimed that his death may have taken place over a four or five-hour period.
When emergency services eventually arrived on the scene, it appeared as though the diplomat had been dead for at least one hour, and it is unclear why a call was not made sooner.
Interestingly, this incident is not the first of its kind to have occurred at the Russian foreign ministry in recent months.
In early January, an unexplained fire broke out in a building located adjacent to the ministry's main Stalin-era tower, resulting in the evacuation of two dozen officials.
The death of the IT specialist and the fire have caused concern and speculation about what may be occurring within the foreign ministry, and what potential implications this could have for Russia's foreign policy.
On Thursday, it was reported that a senior military official in Russia who was heavily involved in funding Vladimir Putin's war in Ukraine died after allegedly falling from a 16-story building in St. Petersburg.
The woman, identified as Marina Yankina, was found dead on the pavement below an apartment building in the city's Kalininsky district early on Wednesday morning.
Ms Yankina, who was 58 years old, served as the finance director of the Western Military District, one of the five geographical battalions that make up Russia's army.
She was reportedly a key figure in financing the conflict in Ukraine, which Putin's government has been accused of supporting through military and financial assistance.
The Western Military District confirmed that one of its employees had died, but declined to provide further details, instead referring inquiries to the authorities investigating the incident.
It is currently unclear whether Ms Yankina's death was accidental or the result of foul play.
According to a local Telegram news channel, Ms Yankina had called her ex-husband prior to her death and informed him that she was about to jump.
She also reportedly told him that she had left her documents and belongings on the balcony.
The motives for her alleged suicide or any other circumstances leading to her fall continue to be investigated.
