Work on 110 new homes in Nottinghamshire town has begun

Land in a Nottinghamshire town has been bought for housing, and construction work on the site has now begun. Developer Countryside, who completed the land purchase, has now moved onto the site in Alfreton Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield.

Some 110 new homes will be built on the site. The two, three and four-bedroom properties will be created on land behind Alfreton Road, near the A38. The developer says this will bring much-needed new rental and affordable properties to the area. As part of the plan, a new access road will link the new homes to Alfreton Road and a new footpath will provide a direct link through to Mapplewells Primary School.

Glyn Mabey, managing director, East Midlands, Countryside said: “We are committed to regenerating areas and creating communities that people can be proud of. This site will bring much needed housing to the Sutton-in-Ashfield area. We are delighted to be partnering with Gatehouse Bank, TPG Real Estate and EMH Group on this inclusive residential development which will not only create housing, but also local employment and investment in the local economy.”

Of the 110 homes being built, 99 will be available for private rental through the Gatehouse Bank and TPG Real Estate joint venture and 11 properties will be affordable homes owned and managed by EMH group.

Chris Jones, Executive Director of Development at EMH, said: "This development will provide a real boost to Sutton-in-Ashfield. We are proud that our strong partnership enables us to build the high-quality affordable homes needed within the local community where it matters."

Paul Stockwell, chief commercial officer, Gatehouse Bank, added: “High-quality rental homes, offering families the space they need with security of tenure, are a key element of new housing schemes and a sector we are proud to have a long track record in.”

He said: “We are delighted to partner with Countryside to expand our single-family housing portfolio. Countryside has an unrivalled reputation for building houses that meet the requirements of local communities, and as such we are pleased to join them in bringing these new homes to Sutton-in-Ashfield.”
