Several people have been injured in a suspected gas explosion at a home this evening.
Emergency services were called to the home in Evesham, Worcestershire, at around 5pm.
One was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham while two other adults were taken to Hereford County Hospital.
A fourth person was treated by paramedics at the scene.
Five other homes nearby were also evacuated in the wake of the incident.
West Mercia Police said: “Four people have been injured following a suspected gas explosion in Evesham this evening.
“Emergency services were called to the incident on Hemmingway shortly at 5pm.
“Five neighbouring properties have been evacuated as a precaution.”
It had earlier warned: “Emergency services are responding to a suspected gas explosion at a home on Hemmingway in Evesham, Worcestershire.
“We’re asking you to stay away from the area whilst we respond, and we’ll update you with more as soon as we can.”
People have been asked to stay away from the area and a road closure is in effect at the scene.
John-Paul Campion, West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner, said: “I have been updated in relation to this incident by the Chief Constable tonight.
“My thoughts and prayers are with those affected.”
Earlier this month a Christmas market was closed down by police after two people were injured following reports of a gas canister explosion.
Emergency crews attended the scene in Glasgow and worked to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A market worker, whose stall is next to where the blast took place, said two women were taken to hospital.
She told the Daily Record : “I was told it was two women taken to hospital but they just had scratches and marks on their hands.
"I don’t think they had any serious injuries. I think they worked at Chinese Noodles bar."
Plain clothed officers were seen directing people away from the area which was cordoned off and drivers were urged to use another route.
