Wor Flags plea to fans ahead of Arsenal as every seat is set to be involved in 'biggest' display yet

Wor Flags are planning their biggest display yet as Newcastle United take on Arsenal on Monday night - with every seat in the ground set to have something to wave. The group have issued a call to fans to make sure they take their seats early to ensure the display goes as planned.

The group, who returned in October following the sale of the club to the current owners, have been credited with aiding Newcastle’s fight against the drop. Their displays have captured the positivity currently engulfing the club and each display has been applauded by fans and even Eddie Howe.

From the ‘Big River’ display against Tottenham to one dedicated to Allan Saint-Maximin before the Crystal Palace clash - each display takes time and precision to put together. With Arsenal, the final visitors to St James’ Park of the 2021-22 season, Wor Flags are going bold with their plans.

Every fan will play their part with all sides of the grounds - including level seven - having the opportunity to get involved. The group are working hard ahead of Monday’s game to make sure all goes to plan - but their hard work can only pay off with the help of those fans at the game.

Speaking to Chronicle Live, a spokesman for the group said: “It's really important fans are in their seats early before kick-off because if they're not it can look a little patchy and it might not look as great as what it could do.

“We've seen some of the scenes around Europe, in the Champions League and Europa League where some teams are putting on incredible displays and that is exactly what we want but it requires everyone to be in their seat beforehand and not coming in just after kick-off!

“We plead with people to be there and help make this a display that everyone can be involved in - and will remember for a long time to come. So please, please be in your seats before kick-off - a good 10-15 minutes before the teams come out so you can help make it look absolutely incredible on the Sky cameras and make our displays envied across the country if not Europe.

"As I said, we've seen some incredible displays recently across Europe and we really want to be amongst that because it will help the atmosphere. Arsenal are pushing for the top four - eventually, that is where we want to be, and there is nothing like Newcastle fans backing their team when a club is coming to St James' Park for a result, we don't just give it over easy.

”We want the atmosphere to be absolutely bouncing. We want to win this game.

“We deserve to win this game and go out on a high at St James' Park because of the way they've performed at home since the turn of the year - we're just really excited.”

Up to a hundred volunteers will be working hard over the next few days on plans that have been a long-time coming. The group say they always had hopes of going across the entire ground but it was all about the right moment to do so. With Newcastle safe from the drop and an enjoyable 2022 under Eddie Howe, the group felt like there was no time like the present.

As fans have seen on social media, part of the display includes the Blue Star of the one time Newcastle Brewery which was the club's shirt sponsor during the 90s. All the displays are totally fan-funded and supporters are reminded to not take any of the flags home with them.

Sharing a message of thanks to those who have donated, the spokesman for Wor Flags said: "Everyone who has donated has helped massively here - we can't do it without them, we really can't. We are very grateful for every penny that comes in and long may that continue as long as people can afford it.

"If you can, please just continue to give us anything you can because it really, really helps and hopefully next season we can go onto bigger and better things."

Fans are asked to not use any of the wavers that are traditionally left on seats until later in the game or full-time. The group ask that the focus is on holding up the foils that have been placed on the seats.
