The chance of metal contamination has led to supermarket giant Woolworths issuing a recall in New South Wales for a batch of a special Christmas treat.
Woolworths said the affected product is Shortcrust Summer Berry Mince Pies, sold in six-packs, with a 'best before' date of 13/06/2024.
Woolworths has not received any complaints and said the recall is being done as a 'precaution."
"Woolworths is recalling Shortcrust Summer Berry Mince Pies 360g as a precaution due to potential metal contamination," a statement said.
"Woolworths takes product safety seriously and apologises for any inconvenience caused by this recall," the recall notice read.
560 packets were sold in stores in New South Wales, from 29 November onwards.
Woolworths is asking customers to check the fruit mince pies put away in their cupboard for Christmas and only respond to the recall if it is the specific variety with the best before date cited.
The retailer assured shoppers no other products or batches are affected.
A full refund can be obtained by returning the items to a Woolworths store.
