A British couple have been found dead at their home in a suburb of the New Zealand capital, Wellington.
Police made the grim discovery after a concerned family member asked for a welfare check on the occupants of the property in Palliser Road, Roseneath at about 10.25pm on Monday, the New Zealand Herald reported.
Post-mortems were completed on Wednesday and the case will be referred to the coroner, as police are not searching for anyone else in relation to the “tragic” deaths.
The case is being treated as a possible murder-suicide.
The couple have been named locally as Ben and Claire Anderson, who a neighbour said had moved to New Zealand from London.
Emma Prestidge told the Herald they were "dream neighbours".
Neighbour Emma Prestidge told Radio New Zealand the couple had moved to the area from London.
"My understanding is they'd finally ... packed up their lives in London, and all their stuff was in a shipping container, and they were kind of looking to move here for good," she said.
"They were ... in the next phase of their life, I guess, and ready to kind of set themselves up for the next part of their chapter, which is ... truly sad."
Mr Anderson had been living and working in New Zealand, while Ms Anderson had been moving between New Zealand and the UK, before settling in Wellington in December.
He worked in science, she had been a teacher, and they had adult children in New Zealand, Ms Prestidge said.
"He was a clever, caring, charming man. She was vibrant, kind, intelligent and both of them made friends wherever they went. They were both absolutely wonderful human beings,' their landlord told the Herald.
"Both they and their family lived life to the absolute full and were always planning or doing amazing adventures," the owner said.
"They were both such positive and incredible parents, friends, and members of many communities.
"We send our love and condolences to their [family] and friends."
Detective Inspector Haley Ryan said police were not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.
"Based on the results of a scene examination and other enquiries, we will be referring the case to the Coroner," she said.
"Post-mortems were completed today, and Police will continue to have a presence in the area as we work to understand the reasoning behind this tragic incident."
"We would like to hear from anyone who may have information that can help our enquiries," she said.
"Anyone with residential CCTV that captures traffic movements in the Roseneath area, particularly on Palliser Road and surrounding streets, is asked to contact us."
A FCDO spokesperson said: "We have not been approached for consular assistance in this case, but our staff stand ready to support British Nationals overseas 24/7."
