London’s Trafalgar Square has hosted a women’s EURO fan festival this month, and now up to 7,000 fans are expected to congregate there to watch England in the final.

England beat Sweden 4-0 in the semi-final on Tuesday, sending them through to the final on Sunday, at Wembley stadium, where they will face France or Germany.

The Women’s EURO 2022 tournament has been taking place across nine cities in England, from July 6 until July 31.

As London is one of the cities hosting the UEFA tournament matches, the city has set up a dedicated space for football fans to come together to celebrate.

Find out below how you can take part in the multi-day football fan experience.

When is the Women’s EURO fan festival?

Trafalgar Square will host the fan festival over nine days, from Saturday, July 23, until Sunday, July 31. The fan zone will be open every day between 11 am and 6 pm.

What is the Women’s EURO fan festival?

The fan festival will feature a range of activities from panel discussions, interviews, and music, to exhibition games and coaching sessions on a pop-up festival pitch.

There will be special events, like live screenings of the tournament final, as well as the film, Bend It Like Beckham, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary. The film will screen on July 24.

Plus, there will be food and drink stalls, as well as Women’s EURO 2022 merchandise.

Do you need tickets to visit the Women’s EURO fan festival?

The fan festival is a free, non-ticketed event, so there’s no need to sign up beforehand.

However, be aware that if the festival reaches capacity, football fans may need to queue–especially for major events like the live screening of the tournament final (which will have a capacity of 7,000).

The fan festival is a neutral site, so is open to supporters of all teams.

Which Women’s EURO games will be hosted in London?

Brentford Community Stadium hosted four football matches:

  • Friday 8 July: Germany vs Denmark
  • Tuesday 12 July: Germany vs Spain
  • Saturday 16 July: Denmark vs Spain
  • Thursday 21 July: Quarter-final

The final of the Women’s EURO tournament will be hosted at Wembley Stadium on July 31. Gates will open at 3 pm, and kick-off is at 5 pm.

Matches have also taken place in Brighton and Hove, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Rotherham, Sheffield, Southampton, Trafford, Wigan and Leigh.
