Women get one hour of sleep more than men a night as bed habits revealed

Women get an extra hour of sleep at night compared to men, a new study has found. The average female gets eight hours kip, while blokes get seven.

In a new poll by CBD brand Naturecan, two thirds of men said they needed less shut-eye than their partner and tended to rise earlier. This was compared to 60 per cent of women, who said they went to bed earlier than their other half and slept more as a result.

Health professionals say we need at least seven hours of sleep a night for optimum health after the age of 18. The Naturecan survey also looked at what helped women and men nod off.

It revealed that sex was the most effective sleep aid, with 82 per cent of guys and 76 per cent of ladies saying they have a better slumber after intimacy.

However, 63 per cent of couples had a sleep imbalance in their relationship and this had caused tensions. And 57 per cent of pairs slept separately on occasions to help them sleep, while eight per cent had separate bedrooms.

The biggest disrupter was heat, with 64 per cent of men and 62 per cent of women struggling to sleep when it is warm.

A Naturecan spokesperson said: “Intimacy inevitably suffers when we are not in bed together.”
