Women charged with criminal neglect of three children in 'uninhabitable' Adelaide home

SA Police said the children were living in "a state of extreme squalor", without food. (ABC News: Michael Clements)

Police have charged two women with the alleged criminal neglect of three children at a home in Adelaide's southern suburbs.

SA Police said the children — aged three, five and 14 — were found to be living in "a state of extreme squalor" in an "uninhabitable" home, without food.

The children were in an "unkempt and dirty" condition and were removed from the home for their safety, according to a police statement.

Detectives arrested two women, aged 32 and 59, and charged them with criminal neglect and failing to provide appropriate food and accommodation, following an investigation launched in December 2022.

They have been bailed to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on June 6.

Police have urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.come.au.
