Woman wins legal battle with Deliveroo after chips and bacon arrive 3 hours late

A Deliveroo customer has won a legal battle after her burger and chips turned up three hours late.

Fae Holliday, 27, was told that her "baconator" and chips would arrive 30 minutes after she placed her order.

But the factory manager had gone to bed on an empty stomach by the time her feast was delivered after midnight.

Fae, of Leeds, refused to accept the £37.50 meal and demanded a refund from Deliveroo.

But her complaint was ignored and she was still charged the full price.

Fae was thanked for her feedback but decided to take the firm to court.

Deliveroo offered no evidence but settled for £75 paving the way for others to raise similar claims.

“I took a stand and I’m so pleased I won not just for me, but for other people," Fae told The Sun.

"I tried to get a refund from Deliveroo but it was like talking to a robot.

“I spent an hour arguing with them so I decided to give them a headache. If I’d lost, I’d have faced some hefty fees.”

A Deliveroo spokesperson told the Mirror: "We were sorry to hear of Ms Holliday's experience.

"We are pleased to have reached a resolution and the claim has been settled."

Deliveroo has launched a string of new features and partnerships in 2022 after the UK appetite for fast food grew during the pandemic.

The company launched an exclusive 'waitlist' for customers to help fans get ahead of the highly anticipated Popeyes fried chicken home experience.

In June, it was offering Co-op delivery in just 20 minutes as Brits stock up for summer festivals.

It also announced it was expanding its fast grocery delivery service brining a unique Supermarket of Dreams to customers.

The west London store will only be on Deliveroo via its HOP service.
