A lucky woman has pocketed $100,000 (£86,500) after she bought a different scratchcard that usual when a shop was sold out of her favourite ones.
Dana Pruitt, 62, bought the winning ticket and scratched it right outside the shop finding out she had won big.
Describing it as "the best win best win I've ever had", she said: "When I scratched it I about had a heart attack."
She added: "It shocked me."
The lucky winner, from the town of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina, had gone in to buy her usual ticket but the shop was sold out.
Pruitt said: "The odd thing is the ticket I purchased was not even the one I was looking for."
She explained: "They were sold out of my first choice."
The winning ticket had cost her $31 (£26) and she bought it from Mayberry Mart on East Pine Street in Mount Airy.
Pruitt said: "This is the best win I've ever had. I'm still in shock to be honest with you."
The North Carolina Education Lottery said: "After she couldn't buy the scratch-off she wanted, Dana Pruitt of Pilot Mountain chose a Fabulous Fortune ticket instead and won a $100,000 prize."
They added: "After settling for her second choice, she scratched the ticket right outside the store and uncovered a $100,000 surprise."
Lottery officials said: "Pruitt collected her prize at lottery headquarters Wednesday and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $71,019 (£61,600).
"She said she would save most of the money for retirement but she might use some to travel to New England.
"Fabulous Fortune debuted in July with six USD 3 million prizes and 18 $100,000 prizes. Three $3 million top prizes and 11 $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed."
Some people never win the lottery, not even once.
But some lucky people win multiple times.
A Canadian man was all smiles after winning a $1 million jackpot on the lottery - for the second time.
Antoine Beaini previously won big when playing the lottery 13 months ago, banking the Maxmillion LOTTO MAXprize of Canadian $1 million (GBP 638,310), before he won the same prize earlier this month.
Reports from October 25 revealed that Antoine, who is from the town of Milton in Ontario, Canada, realised he had purchased the winning ticket after checking the draw results on an official Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) app.
He spoke to the local media about his win, posing with his CAD 1 million check and said: "I couldn't believe it. I thought 'Again?'
"It was more shocking than the first win.
"I told my wife, and she was very happy!"
