Woman whose car hit couch left on Victorian road dies in hospital weeks after crash

A woman has died two and a half weeks after her car struck a couch that had been left on a road near Geelong, south-west of Melbourne, police say.

Vickie McKenzie, 74, was travelling along Creamery Road in Bell Post Hill on September 10 when her car hit the couch.

Her car then veered off the road and collided with another vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.

Ms McKenzie was taken to hospital, where she died on Tuesday.

Her son previously said she had lost her leg as a result of the crash.

The occupants of the other car, a woman and two children, were taken to hospital with minor injuries. They have since left hospital.

Police are still investigating how the couch came to be on the road.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a report online.
