A woman who "went out for a biscuit" ended up scooping a whopping $700,000 jackpot on a scratchcard.
Donna Denton, from Wilson, North Carolina, US, popped to the Fremont Food Mart on Friday to pick up some biscuits and decided to purchase a $10 (£8) Triple 777 lottery ticket.
Her impulsive decision handsomely paid off after she scratched off the ticket and was stunned to find she was the winner of a huge $700,000 (£580,000) prize.
She quickly made her way home to tell her husband and asked him to double check the ticket.
After he was adamant she had won, she contacted the lottery who confirmed she was the recipient of the jackpot.
Fremont Food Mart confirmed they sold Denton the lucky ticket on Friday.
Denton will take home around $497,073 (£411,000) after taxes which she said will be put to good use.
She said: "We had a very Merry Christmas. This made Christmas a little happier. We were happy anyway, now we’re happier. This is a blessing."
Denton plans to give some of the money to her local church.
The Triple 777 game scratchcard was only introduced in December by the North Carolina State Lottery with just two remaining prizes of $700,000 (£580,000) left in circulation.
It is the second time this year a lucky winner has won a life-changing amount of money after a Tennessee mum won $1million (£829,000) in August while on the way to work.
Tara, whose full name was not disclosed, had stopped to purchased some biscuits at Three Corners Market in Unionville, US, and purchased a $1 Million Blowout instant ticket.
She scratched off the ticket and was stunned to find she was a millionaire.
Tara told lottery officials: "I was yelling and carrying on. We had to send a photo of the ticket to show our kids because they didn’t believe me.”
The huge jackpot winnings comes just weeks after Lori Janes, from Kentucky, US, had hoped to get shopping vouchers in the secret prize giving but instead was given lottery scratchcards.
It turned out to be lucky for her as she scooped the $175,000 (£145,000) jackpot on one of the cards.
She said: “Everyone was going insane. People were getting their calculators out and double-checking.
"A couple of people even scanned the ticket on the lottery's app just to make sure.
“This is so crazy. I'm truly blessed.”
