A woman who was sick of trying to find love through dating apps and decided to to leave a mystery message at a bus stop after spotting a "fit bus driver" has finally come forward in the hopes of finding her dream man.
The blunt note, which was attached to a bus stop in Whitefield, Manchester, was originally spotted by a bus passenger, who had no idea who had left the hopeful message.
Penned in capital letters in the hope of catching the attention of the mystery driver, the sign read: "HEY FIT BUS DRIVER CALL ME," along with the number of the admirer.
Now the woman behind the hopeful note has come forward in the hopes of finding her "fit bus driver". Donna Suter thinks the mystery man will know he's the intended target of the note after she and her pal Ryan Meldelson did their best to try to grab his attention at the weekend.
The mum-of-two from Whitefield was enjoying dinner with her pal on Sunday at the Two Birds and One Stone café on Radcliffe New Road when the 531 bus stopped outside - and their eyes were immediately drawn to the driver, Manchester Evening News reports.
Donna, 38, said: "I've been on the scene for quite a while and I had downloaded Hinge, that's where the conversation started. Then we sat down outside and this bus pulled up.
"We said 'oh my god, that bus driver is fit'. Ryan tried to flag it down down to get his number for me, but unfortunately the bus went away."
While her friend Ryan, 31, tried chasing the bus down to find out who the mystery driver was, Donna has since made her own attempt to find out his identity.
They considered waiting for the driver to return, but because the route was so long, they decided against it. Instead, they decided the best approach was to leave the hand-written note, and also a phone number which Ryan uses specifically for dating apps.
Donna said: "I don't think he has switched the phone on since funnily enough. He's definitely not switching it on now it's gone viral."
The romantic is hopeful the bus driver will know the note is intended for him, as "when he passed I was smiling at him," she added.
Donna continued: "I did the hand gesture for 'call me', he must know it was me."
The mum, has recently downloaded Hinge despite "hating" dating apps, but she is hoping it will be her unusual attempt that will bring her five-year single spell to a close.
She added: "I think [dating apps] are all judging a book by its cover. I can't stand them, I find them all catfishy. I think people think there are too many options out there.
"It's quite easy for people to say 'I don't like the way you type'. I think chivalry needs to come back again."
