A woman who gouged out both her eyes while under the influence of drugs has shared her joy after being given a pair of prosthetic eyeballs.
Kaylee Muthart was just 20 when she ripped out her eyes during a meth-induced psychotic episode in 2018.
Medics told her she would be blind for life as they were unable to reattach them.
But Kaylee, from South Carolina in the US, said the shocking incident prompted her to go into rehab.
She thought she could save the world from ending if she removed her eyes, she said after it happened.

After receiving her first pair of prosthetic eyes, she told The Sun : “I just wanted to appear more normal to the outside world.”
Boyfriend Alex George, 42, said the moment "melted his heart", saying: “She was never any different to me, but I know she’s wanted this for a very long time and I’m so happy she has this now."
He described his girlfriend as an "upbeat and positive person", and said the eyes had made her "extra happy".
And Kaylee said Alex cried when he saw her with the prosthetic eyes for the first time.

She told him "I feel like I'm Kaylee again".
And she FaceTimed her mum to show her, she said, stating: “She cried with happiness too, she is so excited for me and this next chapter in my life.”
Kaylee will soon be given a guide dog to help her in her daily life, and has learned to read brail.

She has also learned how to cook, wash clothes and make a bed.
Kaylee said she's come a long way in two years, having kicked her addiction and enrolled in blind school.
She now plans to get her high school diploma, and then an associates degree.
Coming off meth was "awful", she said, leaving her with hallucinations and psychosis, but she is glad to have got through it.
She now plans to write a book about her experience.
