A judge told a Bristol woman who beat up her mum that if he sees her again he will jail her. Gina McCarthy carried out the attack at her mum's home in Islington, London, telling her "You destroyed my life", Bristol Crown Court heard.
When police were called in to arrest the 35-year-old and she then assaulted an officer. McCarthy, of Kings Quarter Apartments, Bristol, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assaulting an emergency worker in June 2021.
Judge James Patrick gave her two-year community order with a restraining order and a six months alcohol abstinance monitoring programme. The judge told her: "Breach it even once, you'll go to prison."

Chloe Lennon, prosecuting, said McCarthy grabbed her mum by the hair, struck her with a telephone and squeezed her neck, causing bruising. Miss Lennon told the court: "The defendant told her 'You destroyed my life'."
McCarthy was abusive to police when they were called in. When she lunged at an officer's face, in handcuffs, the officer punched her in the face, the court heard.

Helen Dawson, defending, said her client had tried to abstain from alcohol with an implant. Miss Dawson said: "She takes any opportunity the court gives her or she goes to custody.
"She recognises she has to be punished for the offending. There's no contact with the mother.
"She is under no illusion as to what she's facing today. The underlying issue appears to be alcohol. She's a complex case and she presents as wanting help."
