Woman turns rough towels 'bright, white and fluffy' again using 80p method

Nothing beats a soft and fluffy towel after a bath or shower, but constant washing and drying means that they can become rough and scratchy.

Instead of forking out for a new set of towels, which can be very expensive, a woman has shared a cleaning tip that she claims "restores" them, getting rid of dirt and fluffing them up once again.

LauraCleanaholic often posts TikTok videos detailing helpful cleaning tips she's learned, as well as sharing her favourite products and going shopping for new cleaning must-haves. Her videos have been liked over 2.7million times by like-minded cleaning fans.

And one of her most recent tips has been praised by her thousands of followers, with many people desperate to try it for themselves.

The video starts with Laura saying: "This is how I restore my fluffy white towels.

"Strip all of the build-up of hard water and product by soaking in a bath with soda crystals," as the video shows Laura doing just that.

After pouring in the soda crystals and swirling the towels around in the water, she squeezed any excess moisture out before taking them out of the bath and heading to the washing machine.

The voiceover continued: "Pop them in the machine using an oxy powder and white vinegar, which will make them bright, white and fluffy again."

Laura also put a regular laundry pod in the drum with the wet towels, then put the vinegar and powder into the drawer at the top.

As well as being simple, this tip is also cost-effective. You'll need half a bag of soda crystals for the soaking, which works out at 40p, as well as an 8p scoop of oxy powder and an 18p (on average) laundry pod. This, as well as a dash of white vinegar, comes to a total of 80p.

People in the comments praised Laura's method, with many people saying they already did it this way or that they would from now on.

One user said: "My favourite way to keep towels fluffy!"

While another commented: "Will have to give this a try."

Some people had a couple of questions about the hack, which Laura was happy to answer.

When one person asked how long the towels were to be soaked in the soda crystals for, Laura replied: "An hour or so normally does the trick."

And when asked if the trick would make towels fluffy even if they aren't white, she responded: "Yes definitely. The soda crystals strip off any residue build up, the vinegar is a natural softener and the oxi powder removes any stains."
