Woman transforms home into pink Barbie paradise after falling in love with the colour

A woman has transformed her home into a huge pink Barbie paradise.

Influencer Bruna Barbie, from Curitiba, Brazil, though does insist she has never had plastic surgery to look like her favourite doll.

She has been in love with the colour pink since a young age and when classmates started to call her Barbie, the nickname stuck.

Sharing her pink-themed looks online, Bruna built up a loyal following, and now has more than 20 million social media followers.

"I've always been in love with the colour pink, since I was little," said Bruna.

"At school, students started calling me 'Barbie', and it stuck.

"When I was still a teenager, I started in 2006 to use the social network of the time here in Brazil, which was called 'VibeFlog', sharing photos of my day to day with my pink looks, that's when I started to get popular on the internet and in 2009 I started using 'Orkut', where I had five profiles.

"When I started recording videos for YouTube, there was a video that had many views and went to YouTube's 'Em Alta', then I received an invitation from one of the biggest TV shows here in Brazil to participate in the 'Internet Famous' which was Eliana's Program on the 'SBT' broadcaster.

"I already have 17 million followers on TikTok, and I am one of the 10 Brazilian people with the most followers on TikTok.

"Adding all the social networks, I have more than 20 million followers."

Despite her love for Barbie, Bruna's desire to emulate her hero stops at physically changing her body.

She said: "I have never had a surgical procedure to look like Barbie, the only surgical procedure I have is the silicone prosthesis, but it was for the sake of aesthetics, for me to feel better, good about myself.

"According to Barbie doll averages, Barbie's beauty is an unattainable beauty.

"I don't feel like having surgery to look like Barbie, I only do aesthetic procedures that every woman does."

Having built up a following on social media, Bruna was able to realise her dream of truly living a Barbie life.

"As I always say, the Barbie Doll inspires, empowers and entertains," she said.

"Barbie teaches us that 'You can be whatever you want' and throughout her life Barbie has worked in more than 180 professions, from cafeteria cashier to soccer coach, from computer engineer to doctor, from firefighter to archaeologist.

"There are Barbies with different body types, skin, hair and that's amazing.

"I love Barbie for the delicacy and female empowerment she has always brought us.

"Barbie is a symbol of freedom, we can be well-groomed and beautiful and exercise any profession.

"Barbie recognises the limitless potential of each woman to create her own universe and fully express herself in all the ways that are unique to her, I love that.

"I think the only thing as iconic as Barbie is her house, a spectacular house that allows people to immerse themselves in the pink world of Barbie, so I was inspired and I built my pink house.

"In my adult life, with my successful work as a digital influencer, when I started making a lot of money.
"I saw the possibility of building a house inspired by Barbie and inspired by my pink style.

"My home is a place where wishes come true, where imagination is transformed into sweet, pink and unparalleled experiences and where fantasy goes hand in hand with the real world.

"Today I have no idea how much I spent, but at the beginning of the construction and decoration I already spent more than 1 million reais ( £163,000)."

Bruna says that her friends and family are supportive of her style and joke that she needs to wear 'more pink'.

"Nowadays they think it's super normal, because they've gotten used to my style, but at first they thought it was curious that I only wore pink," said Bruna.

"As they saw that what really makes me happy is wearing pink they accepted and love me like that, now they even joke that sometimes I don't have that much pink - I have to wear more pink."

But not everyone is as keen on Bruna's style.

"I've been criticised for the fact that I wear pink, but I don't care," she said.

"Nowadays the critics have diminished, because we are living more in a world of diversity.

"They say I'm not Barbie, I reply that I don't pretend to be 'BARBIE', I just have Barbie as inspiration."

Bruna's love for the Barbie style even caught the eye of Barbie makers Mattel, who send her rare collector's items.

On Barbie's 60th birthday, Bruna was invited by Mattel to their Brazilian 'Barbie - A Party in the Park' event.

Bruna was also invited by the Hilton to promote their Barbie suite, which they set up at the Hilton Cartagena hotel in Colombia.

"I have several dolls that I received from the Mattel company that owns Barbie," said Bruna.

"Mattel here in Brazil is always sending me Barbie product launches and also collaborations that are made with the Barbie brand, I receive the products and make publicity on my social networks, taking pictures and recording videos.

"I even have rare, collector's Barbies."

Bruna's eventual goal is to use her law degree to open an animal shelter.

"I am godmother of animal cause projects, even when I went to law school it was to defend the animal cause," she said.

"I have a dream that I haven't realised yet, which is to open a shelter for animals, because I'm very passionate about them.

"I have four beautiful dogs, Pearl, Alice, Tiffany (who are female) and Dior (who is male)."
