Woman threw full cider can at victim's face in Liverpool train attack

A group were attacked on a train from Liverpool to New Brighton.

Two women, already on the service from Liverpool Central, are said to have made homophobic comments to another group of people who boarded the train at James Street station. The suspects then threw a full cider can at one of the members of the group.

One of the suspects then approached another victim and repeatedly punched her. The attack took place just before 11pm on Saturday, March 26.

British Transport Police have now released CCTV images of two women who they'd like to speak to regarding the incident on-board the train. Officers believe that those pictured could help with the investigation.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Do you recognise these women? Officers investigating an assault on-board a train travelling between Liverpool Central and New Brighton are today releasing images in connection.

"At just before 11pm on 26 March, the victims boarded the train at James Street station. Two women already on the service then made homophobic comments towards the group before one them threw a full can of cider at them which struck one of the victims in the face.

"One of the women then approached one of the victims and repeatedly punched her. Officers believe the women in the CCTV images may have information which could help their investigation.

"If you recognise them, or have any information, please contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 790 of 26/03/22. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
