Woman taken to hospital after horror smash shuts Lanarkshire road for three hours

A woman was taken to hospital after a crash on a busy East Kilbride road saw it closed for more than three hours last night.

Police say there were "no life-threatening" injuries to the female driver of a Range Rover following the two-vehicle smash on the A725 near to the Whitemoss roundabout at approximately 5.30pm.

And the driver and passenger of the business van involved had a lucky escape after their vehicle was written-off, with pictures showing it completely caved at the rear.

It comes just a few weeks after the owner of Village Blinds, Andy Farmer, had another of his vans stolen.

He told Lanarkshire Live : "The van stalled on the roundabout and then a Range Rover went right into the back of us sending us flying about 30 yards up the road.

"Thankfully everyone was okay, but the van and all the blinds and equipment we had in it are a write-off.

"Things are difficult enough at the minute and it's going to impact on the business without a doubt.

"It's just one thing after another at the minute - just a few weeks ago I had another van stolen and then we lost our dog - luckily we got him back."

A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed the accident, telling us: "Around 5.25pm on Tuesday we received a report of a road crash involving a van and car on the A725 near Whitemoss roundabout, East Kilbride.

"Emergency services attended and one woman was taken to hospital. The road was reopened around 8.40pm."

Our source said there were no offences were detected.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman added attended the crash, sending one appliance and firefighters to assist police.

The ambulance service also attended the incident.
