Woman taken to hospital after falling off bridge in Sunderland

A woman was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after falling off a bridge in Sunderland.

Northumbria Police received reports of concern for the welfare of a woman on Monday afternoon at around 4pm.

It was reported that a woman had fallen off a bridge above the A1018 in Sunderland.

Police confirmed the woman was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries following the incident.

The road was temporarily closed as emergency services attended, however it has since reopened.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “At about 4pm yesterday (Monday) we received a report of concern for the welfare of a woman who had fallen off a bridge above the A1018 in Sunderland.

“The woman has been taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The road was temporarily closed as emergency services attended.”
