A woman has sufffered serious injuries in a crash on the A63 Selby Road near Leeds last night (Wednesday, August 31).
West Yorkshire Police closed the A63 Selby Road yesterday, the stretch known as the 'mad mile' between Colton and Garforth, following the horror smash. Two lanes were blocked for a number of hours.
Officers are continuing trying to establish what happened after a woman suffered very serious injuries and was air lifted to hospital for treatment.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Enquiries are ongoing this evening following a serious road traffic collision on the A63 Selby Road near Swillington Common.
"Emergency services were called to Selby Road near junction 46 with the M1 at about 18.42 on Wednesday, August 31, following a report of a two car collision.
"A female from one of the cars sustained very serious injuries and was air lifted to hospital for treatment. Police remain on scene and a full road closure is in place at the location while investigation and recovery work takes place.
"Drivers are thanked for their patience and urged to avoid the area."
