Woman spots mortifying error on CV after sending off job application

Applying for a new job can hold the key to changing your life - so it's imperative you get it right.

Many people spend hours on their applications before poring over every word looking for spelling mistakes or grammatical errors that might see them removed from the process for displaying a lack of attention to detail.

But often staring at the same document for hours on end and focusing on the tiny details can make us blind to the bigger picture.

TikTok user @Marissasid21 recently learned a lesson the hard way, sharing a video of the huge mistake she made when applying for a job, and the clip has since been viewed more than four million times.

Marissa spotted it too late (@marissasid21/Tiktok)

Like many of us, Marissa made use of a CV template to help guide her through the process, but hadn't quite remembered to replace all the example information with her own.

It was only after sending off the application that she realised she had completely overlooked replacing the stock photo it had used, making the student teacher appear to instead be a male medical professional with a stethoscope around his neck.

Marissa shared the blunder with the caption: "You think you’re having a bad day? I just sent this resume without changing the template picture."

The post racked up thousands of amused comments (@marissasid21/Tiktok)

The clip left people in stitches, as one said: "Just imagine the confusion on the HR employee's face."

A second said: "It's the fact that he is dressed as a doctor and your resume says student teacher that is sending me to MARS."

Another added: "Girl, not to make the situation worse, but I haven't stopped laughing in 10 mins."

Others sought to reassure her, as one wrote: "As a recruiter - this is soooo funny! I would understand if you were honest and quickly sent a revised copy."

And some added their own stories of similar mistakes, with someone else commenting: "I was trying to upload my dog's picture for the daycare website and I accidentally uploaded my weight loss progress pictures instead."
