Woman sparks anger with neighbours by putting up 100ft fence for her dog

Having a bad relationship with neighbours can ruin your experience living in an area, so most people choose to maintain a good, or at least civil, relationship with the people who live next door. However, one brave woman has decided not to care what her neighbours think of her in the name of keeping her pup happy.

Cindy Copley, from Wiltshire, built a 100ft fence around her home, believing it will be the best way to keep her dog Murphy safe after the pooch lost his eyesight. The fence is three feet tall to protect Murphy form the road.

According to Cindy, 66, her back garden is too small, so fencing off the front garden was a better idea. However, the wooden fence has not gone down well with her neighbours, with some claiming it ruins the street, reports The Mirror.

One neighbour had said it was the "ugliest fence in the world," while another said: "You can't just put up a big ugly fence on a whim, it should to be done properly through the council and by asking everybody in the street."

"It's the ugliest fence in the world, what does she even think she’s doing," one said. "It has upset a few people down this road. I'm furious."

But former NHS worker Cindy doesn't understand the complaints made by her neighbours. Speaking to The Sun, she said: "It's just a fence, I can't see what the problem is? It's pathetic.

"I can't get my head round it, it's to keep Murphy safe from the main road. If I knew this was going to cause this much hassle I wouldn't have put it up."

The 66-year-old's daughter Kate claimed her parents have suffered 'stress and anxiety' over the bitter fallout from the fence. Kate says the retired parents were just trying to create a safe place for their dog to run around in and were unaware it would cause any problems.

Thankfully, however, not all feedback has been hard after raking in support from other names - who have said it's 'nothing but a decent fence'.
