Woman 'sneaks into' London Fashion Week wearing a bin bag

A young woman said she ‘felt like a celebrity’ when she ‘sneaked into’ London Fashion Week wearing just a bin bag.

Ellie Marie Whitby, from Runcorn, said she decided to come up with a “funny idea” for her YouTube Channel which would see her try to sneak her way into London Fashion Week.

The clothing trade show takes place in London twice a year, showcasing hundreds of designers to a global audience.

Ellie, who previously managed to persuade her mum to dress up as Bigfoot stalking the woodlands of West Kirby, said she looked forward to the challenge.

She told the ECHO: “I just try to make comedy and funny challenges for my content. Something light hearted to make people smile and I thought this would be a funny idea.

“At first it looked pretty terrible, I stuck my head through a hole and it was awful. I haven’t got any arts and craft skills but eventually I managed to make it look half decent.”

Ellie even found an old banana peel on the floor to add to the “trash look”.

She said: “Originally, London Fashion Week is held in one big event building but for security reasons, every single catwalk had been moved to a secret location.

“I spent the entire day with my friend in a coffee shop calling every event building in London. A lot of designers wouldn’t give us the address because we weren’t on the list but one slipped up.

“We turned up and my friend pretended to be a paparazzi taking pictures of me.”

Ellie claims she “joined the queue” and followed the lead of the girl in front of her.

The YouTuber added: “They were already running behind schedule. It was such a surreal experience, to be ushered in and sat there in a bin bag.

“A woman ended up coming over to me and asking us if we wanted to sit with her on the front row seats.

“I was definitely getting some judgemental looks but I felt a bit like a celebrity. It felt weird to be getting papped at a prestigious event.

“People loved the video. My fans said it’s a favourite because it’s so homemade and I managed to get in.

“I’ve always loved creating videos and messing around with friends and it’s just grown.

“But I just did this one on a whim, I’ve never had an interest in attending London Fashion Week before but now I have.”
