Arguments are supposedly a sign of a healthy relationship because you are communicating your needs to your partner – but it can be hard when you don't see each other's point of view.
One woman, who let her boyfriend's cat out despite being told not to, is struggling to see that she did anything wrong.
Meanwhile, her boyfriend has 'kicked [her] out' and has said he 'needs space' from her because he doesn't feel like he can trust her anymore.
Taking to a popular Reddit forum, the woman explained that her boyfriend's two-year-old cat, Libby, has always gone outside, but recently had an injury after another feline attacked her.
Her boyfriend decided Libby should stay inside because she was "quite poorly" and he had paid a lot out in vet fees.
In a recent post, the woman added: "He said that he gets it's a change for Libby as she has been meowing at the door to be let out but that it's for her health and safety and he said he's planning on building some outside open air cage thing so she's still outside but concealed in it."
One night the cat was "meowing at the back door", and the girlfriend suggested they let her out, but the boyfriend say no.
She added: "She seemed really insistent so I let her out. Boyfriend was none the wiser."
However, when he realised what she had done he got "really angry" and started saying she was "rude, insensitive and horrible."
The cat came back after an hour and was "fine," but the boyfriend "kicked her out" and has been "cold ever since".
She continued: "He says that he doesn't trust me in his house anymore or near his cat. She's a really sweet girl and I love her and I don't think I did anything wrong. I think he's being really paranoid just because she got hurt once."
Despite trying to make him see her point of view, he has said he needs "some space" from her.
In the comment section most people agreed that she should not have let the cat outside.
One person said: "You let her out after boyfriend explicitly told you not to. Why should he trust you? What if the cat had come back hurt again, would you have paid the bills?"
Another added: "I don't understand why you would let her out. You have just undone all the hard work he's done to keep her inside. It's for her safety, the safety of the neighbours cats as well as wildlife."
