Woman shares trick to make your knitwear look brand new – and it's 'so satisfying'

It's winter, and the freezing weather coupled with the cost of living crisis means knitted jumpers aren't going anywhere just yet.

Woolly jumpers are a winter wardrobe staple, keeping us warm while also looking great. But those who have lots of knits in their collection will know that once you have worn them for a while they will start to turn bobbly and look less-than-fresh.

But it turns out there's something simple you can do to make your much-loved knits look brand new.

UK-based online content creator Anna, who often uploads videos where she puts together fabulous outfits using her staple pieces, has shared her best trick.

Anna, author of the organisation manual An Edited Life, uploaded a video to TikTok, saying: "Does your knitwear look like this? Do not panic, it just needs de-bobbling. Yes, de-bobbling is the official word."

According to the content creator, you have two options – a fabric comb or an electric fabric shaver.

The fabric comb takes a bit more elbow grease, but it's a quick way to do large surface areas. Anna said the electric fabric shaver "works in the same way" and is "kind of fun to use".

She continued: "If you're going for the fabric comb option just go in the direction of the knit. Create some tension so you're able to keep it quite flat and just keep dragging the comb over the fabric."

Anna demonstrated on her own jumper, showing how much fluff she was able to get off. She added: "How much better does that look and how satisfying is that?"

Going on to the next arm, she continued: "With the fabric shavers I feel like slow and steady wins the race a little bit more, and you're just going to want to turn it on and use small circular motions."

She added: "In my experience, the comb is better for hardier, thicker knits, and the fabric shaver is better for more delicate knits."

People in the comment section were amazed by the results, with one person saying: "So satisfying," and another adding: "I'm getting one."

Another commented: "I have the electronic one and it was hands down the best purchase."

"Doing this on my woollen socks is quite possibly the best thing ever - they look soooo good afterwards," commented another.
