When you're looking for a new job, the interviewing process can be relentless. If you don't get the job, it doesn't necessarily mean you did anything wrong, as there are so many different factors to consider.
But there are certain things you can do which could make sure you linger in the minds of the potential future employer a little longer.
One woman, who has been sharing the things she has learned from the many job interviews she has done, has shared her number one tip and mistake that a lot of people make.
Skylar Whitman, who now works as Community Manager for Yelp in Tampa Bay, in the US, uploaded a video to TikTok, saying: "If an interviewer asks you at the beginning of an interview how you are, and you answer with 'I'm good, how are you', you're doing it wrong. It's just kind of ending that conversation and forcing you to go directly into the interview."
She continued: "So what should you say otherwise? Literally anything. If you give a specific detail about the workout class you took or the weather, or your plans for the weekend, what you had for breakfast, it gives the interviewer an opportunity to actually start a conversation.
"Additionally, it's going to give them something to remember about you before you get into all of the interview questions that they are asking every single person they're talking to."
According to Sky, it also "primes the interviewer to ask you follow-up questions about what you're talking about or make a connection about something too".
As a bonus, it also gives you a chance to relax and takes the nerves out of the situation, without having to be bombarded with potentially tricky questions.
Sky recognises that she's not a recruiter, and that this is based on personal opinion, but in the time she was searching for a job she "collected so much knowledge and information".
However, many people were thankful for the tip, and agreed it was a great way to stick in your potential future employer's mind.
One person in the comment section shared: "I always saw 'not bad thank you, I just finished (insert activity), how are you doing?'", to which Sky replied saying: "Perfect form!"
Another added: "Great idea. Love this. 'I'm good, how are you' is a no thought fire back. Actually say something about how you are. Positive of course."
A third commented: "This is a great tip. I always talk about great my morning run was (whether I actually did my run or not lol)."
