Forgetting names sees to be common practice in everyday life. There's an unwritten rule that you're only allowed to ask someone to repeat their name three times before it becomes awkward - where you then have to abort mission.
Thankfully, people are praising a woman's 'genius' solution for those who are easily forgetful when it comes to monikers. Nia - who boasts more than 10.7K followers on TikTok account @niacc13 - shared her video of the life hack to the popular video-streaming service. Since sharing her insight online, Nia's video has surpassed a whopping 2.1 million views since posting.
Captioning the viral clip, the TikToker admitted: "I do this with the students at my school and with people I meet at gigs too."
She explained: "Life hack #1 - what to do if you don't remember someone's name.
"Wanna hear a life hack?" She questioned.
Nia went on: "Whenever I don't know somebody's name, I say, 'do you know that it's really hard to say your own name three times really fast because you're not used to saying your own name?'"
Flocking to the comment section, TikTok users were quick to praise the handy method with some claiming that Nia was 'winning at life'.
One person said: "Girllll you're genius and my idol."
"AND that's why you're winning at life queen," a second added.
In the meantime, different users took to the comments to share their first-hand methods when forgetfulness gets the better of them.
One TikTok user said: "I would just ask them how to spell their name."
Meanwhile, a second wrote: "I always say 'hey what's your name again?' and when they say it, I'll say 'oh I meant your last name."
An embarrassed third person penned: "I asked someone how to spell their name once because I couldn't remember it. It was AJ."
