Woman shares 'brilliant' business card trick that helps break the ice on dates

Meeting new people can be tricky, and while dating apps have encouraged us to boil our personalities down into bitesize "about me" sections, talking to people in the real world isn't always that simple.

To combat the awkward world of real-life dating, one woman on TikTok has come up with the perfect solution - she's made "business cards" filled with quickfire facts about herself that she hands out to people she meets in bars and pubs.

Hayley, who posts under the username @heyhayhall, shared a video in which she showed off the business cards, which include fun facts such as her favourite film being Parent Trap, and her hometown being Smithfield, Virginia, USA.

In the video, she said: "I'm really single and hate the dating apps, so me and my friend Alexa and I decided to make dating business cards to hand out at bars."

Hayley and Alexa then enlisted the help of their friend Drew, who did the legwork of handing out the cards to any potential suitors that the pair spotted in the bar they went to.

The woman added: "We got our friend Drew to help us, and here he is behind me giving my card to a guy I asked him to hit up and ... he turned out to be 19."

Hayley captioned the video: "We hate dating."

But while the social media user's trick wasn't a success on that occasion, the business card idea has still received huge praise online for being "genius" - with commenters asking how they can print out their own cards.

One person said: "Wait, this is brilliant. What is the template and who did the printing? I really want some."

While another added: "This is genius though."

And a third wrote: "Love this idea! Would you be willing to share the template you used?"

In a follow-up video, Hayley revealed she got the cards printed by a company called Canva, and said 50 business cards set her back just $10 (£7.50).
