A travel guru has amazed social media users after sharing the 'best' way to take large toiletries abroad when you've not booked checked luggage for your flight.
As holidaymakers will know, most major airports prohibit passengers from carrying containers larger than 100ml inside hand luggage - and your liquids must fit in a single bag.
While this is easily solved if you have a bag in the hold, where different restrictions apply, it can pose a problem for other passengers who are only travelling with hand luggage.
After all, many of us like to take our home comforts on trips away. So if you plan to pack your favourite brand of shampoo, body wash, and suncream - it soon adds up.
But it turns out you don't have to buy travel-sized versions - or leave your favourite products behind. There's a simple way to ensure you've got everything you need, thanks to an airport hack - one parents can also use to stock up on essentials like nappies and baby milk.
As Steph Gibbs, 28, explained, a little-known service allows you to order toiletries from certain airport's stores ahead of time - so they're ready and waiting for you to collect after you pass through security.
Sharing the ruse in a video that has since racked up over 3.9 million views, the hotel product and commercial executive explained: "Place an order for toiletries on the Boots website around a week before you travel – this means you pay the normal price instead of the airport price.
"Make sure you select the 'after security' option. "Collect your order once you have cleared security.
"Now you don't have to worry about fitting all your liquids in the world's smallest plastic bag!"
Steph, who travels regularly for work, discovered the trick after she struggled to fit all her toiletries inside the provided bag, when travelling with hand luggage only.
The jet-setter, from Reading, said: "I booked a last-minute trip with my partner and I didn’t have much time to prepare, so I went online to order our toiletries to pick up at my local boots when I noticed the option to pick up at London Gatwick after security.
She added: "I've only used it once, but since I posted [the TikTok], my friends have begun using it and haven’t encountered any problems.
"I selected my pick-up date on the Boots website and made sure the store was going to be open at the time I would arrive at the airport."
The hack proved a hit on TikTok, garnering 142,000 likes and sending users flocking to the comment section to share their own tips.
One person replied: "You just saved me like 10kg off my check-in bag." A second described it as the "best idea ever".
Another agreed: "So smart." Someone else revealed: "We've been doing this for years. we used to order nappies and baby milk to collect."
