Woman shares 90p rug hack to stop edges curling that people 'need' to try

A woman on TikTok has revealed how you can banish those annoying curled-up edges on your rugs and make them completely flat overnight.

A colourful or patterned rug can add a touch of pizazz to any room, but you might find that over time, the corners start to gradually roll up if - especially if furniture has been placed over them.

Not only is this an eyesore, but it also increases your chances of tripping and potentially injuring yourself. Thankfully, it's easy to sort out at home, and all you need is a few items you've probably got in the house already.

The Mirror reports that Sara, also known as @functionalforyou on TikTok, often shares helpful homeware hacks and tips for making it easier to stay clean and organised.

Her rug trick video has surpassed a whopping 4.1 million views since it was posted, and she says people "need" to try it if they're having similar problems with their carpets at home.

According to her, all you need is a couple of ice cubes and a weighty item such as a candle or a glass to eliminate the rolled-up corners overnight.

In the video, an onscreen caption reads: "Testing the ice cube hack for rolled rug corners."

She's seen to place the pieces of ice beside the rolled up bit of carpet and place down the heavy object on the corner to fix it to the floor.

Once the ice is melted, and you've left it overnight, the carpet should lay flat once you've removed your item of choice.

Sara says the ice cubes 'saturate the rug slowly' rather than right through, which water would do.

She wrote in the post's caption: "I wanted to take the opportunity to post my original video here. AND reassure everyone that this will not create a mould or mildew situation. It is just a few ice cubes after all Try this on your rolled rug corners and lmk what you think!"

If you don't already have ice in the freezer, a bag costs just 90p from Asda, or £1.10 from Tesco.

People in the comments were blown away by the hack, with some saying they could vouch for the fact that it did work.

"Oh my goodness I needed this LOL," someone said.

"I didn't believe it...I tried it and it really did work," wrote another.

And a third person chimed in: "It works! I did it too!"
