A WOMAN can be seen running from a black car with a child in her arms as police swarm on the driver of another vehicle who rammed her from behind twice in shocking video of a wild pursuit at Gosford.
In the video, a school bus can be seen parked just metres from a silver Mitsubishi Outlander and a group of school children watch on as the driver rams into the back of the woman's car before reversing and almost hitting two police officers, one who appears to have his gun drawn.
The silver car can then be seen hitting the black car a second time before mounting the kerb outside a business at the intersection of Etna and Mann streets at Gosford.
Eliza Ingram's children were on the bus that was just metres from the scene.
"I won't disclose their school, but they attend a nearby school," she said.
"That bus, in particular, has a mix of school children and regular community members.
"They are okay, they were concerned for the lady and small children who were in the car that got hit next to them."
Police were patrolling Benham Avenue at Wyoming about 3.15pm today when they located the silver Mitsubishi Outlander that had been stolen from White Street, East Gosford earlier.
When the vehicle failed to stop as directed, officers began a pursuit and later terminated it for safety reasons.
A short time later, Brisbane Water Police District officers tried to stop the car again before re-engaging in a pursuit. The vehicle drove into Mann Street, Gosford, where it crashed into several vehicles including two police cars. It will be alleged in court that the car drove directly at two officers on foot causing them to take evasive action - before coming to a stop after colliding with a brick wall.
The driver, a 22-year-old man, allegedly attempted to flee the scene on foot but was arrested at the scene.
The 22-year-old was treated at the scene for minor injuries and a senior constable also suffered minor injuries.
The man was taken to Gosford police station where it was established that he was the holder of a suspended learners drivers licence and was also allegedly breaching bail conditions from an unrelated matter.
He was charged with seven offences including steal motor vehicle, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, drive motor vehicle while licence suspended, police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, use etc offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention, hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty and breach of bail
The Gosford man was been refused bail to appear at Gosford Local Court on Wednesday September 25.
