Woman says she is disappointed with partner's 'cheap' engagement ring

A woman admitted she was left disappointed with her partner's 'cheap' engagement ring. The woman insists that her soon to be husband could 'afford so much more', reports Hull Live.

She took to social media to share her sadness over the piece of jewellery that she claims was initially far too large for her. Posting on Mumsnet, the woman says the ring was like 'costume jewellery'.

She said: "So I recently got engaged. I hate to admit it, but when I saw the ring my immediate feeling was disappointment.

"It looked cheap, like costume jewellery and wasn't was I expected. I'm not a jewellery wearing person so in general my expectations were low."

Despite the ring initially not fitting her, she admits that her partner did arrange for it to be resized to fit. However, after two months, the ring still had not been resized.

This then led the woman to doing her own research on the jewellery. She says the results of which stunned her and that is when the real problems emerged.

She said: "It says sterling silver cubic zirconia. Basically cheap.

"I know an engagement is not about money, but I know he can afford so much more. He is extravagant in his own spending on himself.

"Am I entitled to feel disappointed or should the ring price matter?" The woman's question was quick to stir up conversation on social media with people keen to share their thoughts.

Many people believed that the woman's disappointment over the ring was valid. One person said: "Tight with money, tight with love."

Another added: "Unless you are both romantically broke students, you don't marry a man who thinks a £10 ring is the right ring for the proposal to the love of his life."

However, other people tried to explain the situation from the man's point of view. One said: "It's possible he's just clueless about engagement rings and got his feelings hurt when you informed him he did poorly."
