A woman’s windows rattled after she heard two explosions from the row of houses behind her.
Merseyside Police, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service were called to Oak Leigh in Tuebrook just before 9.30pm on Thursday, April 6 following reports of an explosion in the area. Once emergency services arrived at the scene they found one terraced house was on fire and had significant damage.
Firefighters worked to put out the blaze and a cordon was put in place along the majority of Oak Leigh. Merseyside Police have confirmed the explosion was caused by gas and said they do not believe there is any criminal element to the incident.

They confirmed nobody was seriously injured in the explosion and their enquiries are ongoing.
Pictures taken by The ECHO show the front bay window has completely blow off the home. A woman who lives in the area told The ECHO they heard two separate explosions at the time of the incident.
The woman said: “I live on the street behind, and heard two separate explosions although I wasn’t aware that’s what they were at the time. My back door and windows rattled loudly.
“My next door neighbour knocked on to see if I was okay because she’d seen something land in my yard, and she went down to Oak Leigh to find out what was going on. After seeing and smelling smoke out of my back window I went down myself and was told by other neighbours that the lady who lived there was in the back of an ambulance and the whole of the front of the house had gone.”
Cadent, the gas emergency service, were also at the scene.
A spokesman for Cadent said: “Our engineers are on site assisting the emergency services with their investigations and, as routine in an incident like this, making sure everything associated with gas is safe.”
