A woman made a wholesome discovery while carrying out maintenance work on her home.
She explained how she opened up a ventilation cavity in the wall and came across old love letters bound together with string.
She immediately opened them and recognised they'd been written by a young woman to her love interest. Sharing her discovery on Reddit, she said: "I've been in this house for 12 years now.
"I don't actually know for sure the date of the letters. The way they're all dated is with the day and time sadly." Based on the language used in the letters, the woman believes they could have been written in the 1950s.
However, others say they could have been penned in the 1980s based on the cursive-style handwriting.
In the letters, a young woman shares anecdotes about her day and tries to persuade her love interest to attend a dance with her.
Part of the letter reads: "I've missed you most awfully this weekend, goodness knows what is going to happen during the holidays.
"I've been utterly miserable and I think last night I would have given my life to see you.
"Even if you don't come to the dance, you need have no fear that I shall flirt with Brown or anybody, because I won't darling, I shall think of you all the time and mourn for you.
"I do wish you were coming though, but I should hate to feel that I had forced you to come against your will.
"Besides I don't admire the type of man who dances, and I'm terribly glad you can't dance.
"I've no desire to become frightfully good at dancing, but it is good to be able to hop around - it's a great social asset to a woman."
Wanting to know whether he ended up attending the dance, the woman says she will continue reading through the love letters to uncover more information about their relationship.
Commenting on her find, one user said: "It would be awesome if you scanned them, we could try to find the ones who wrote them or the relatives."
Another user added: "This is exactly like the stuff we'd write to our sweethearts when we were 13 and folding up notes in little squares."
A third user said: "I think you've just entered a romance movie where your goal is to deliver the letters to the grandmother of the person that turns out to be the love of your life."
