No matter how old you are, you're never too old to carve a pumpkin. Whilst the seasonal tradition is carried out by people of all ages, almost everyone has the same technique to carve their designs - and that's by cutting open the top, placing a candle in the middle, and putting the lid back on.
However, a video, which has been shared to TikTok, claims that everyone's been carving pumpkins wrong their whole life as a woman's easier technique has left people floored. A grandma - who boasts more than 2.6 million views on account @brunchwithbabs - left people speechless as she cut the bottom of her pumpkin rather the top.
Babs - who has raked in a whopping following for posing as "everyone's grandmother" - initially shared a video of the dos and don'ts of pumpkin carving.
However, her viewers were gobsmacked as she took the knife to the bottom of the pumpkin rather than the top - a "genius" method meaning that it'll sit on top of the candle easier.
And most importantly, it'll stop your hand from being burned when you cut the top and place the lit flame into the carved squash.
Captioning the viral clip, which has since exceeded 24.6 million views, Babs added: "Carve from bottom. That way you have the stem to hold onto and you can easily slip the pumpkin right over a candle or flashlight."
Not only does it make the initial carving much easier, but you can also add a sweet scent to your carve.
The grandmother-of-eight chose to sprinkle cinnamon in the inside of her pumpkin before placing the open bottom over a lit candle.
Flocking to the comment section, users shared their thoughts and inevitable shock - with some going as far to say that their whole life has been a lie.
"The end shocked me. I have never seen the pumpkin cut from the bottom. Genius," one person gushed.
A second exclaimed: "I was today years old when I realised I've been doing this the hard way my entire life!!!!!!"
Another agreed: "God, I love you! I have been doing everything wrong in the last 40 plus years of my life!!!"
"I feel like my whole life has been a lie cutting the top," a fourth penned.
Meanwhile, a different user wrote: "My God, Babs, you NEVER fail to impress and teach me something new, and inspiring."
