A woman has been left outraged at her husband and his mum after they both poked fun at her for gaining weight - and even called her "childish" and "silly" for getting upset over their comments.
The woman posted on Mumsnet to explain that she had gone up two dress sizes since having children, and is currently a UK size 14 when she used to be a size 10 before becoming a mum.
And even though her weight is perfectly normal, especially after welcoming children, the mum claims that her mother-in-law thinks it's okay to make comments directed at her - which her husband often "giggles" at.
In her post, she said: "For a bit of background - before I had children I was a size 10. After children, I’m a size 14 and I have my wobbly bits and my main exercise is walking, where I do around 15,000 steps a day. My mother-in-law has known me since I was a size 10, and my husband married me when I was skinny.

"My husband never says anything about my weight and our sex life is fine. However, when he’s around his mum he seems to think it’s fine to have a giggle when she makes comments directed at me.
"A few weeks ago, my husband mentioned his mum's scales were broken and she said 'obviously something heavier than 12 stone has been bouncing on them', and I saw her side eye me. My husband giggled but I said nothing.
"Tonight, my dog was behind the couch and I bent down to get him and I heard her say to him 'you don’t get many of those to the pound' and another comment I couldn’t hear."
The comments upset the woman so much that she walked out of the room, but rather than comforting his wife, her husband simply told her she was being "childish" for not understanding that their comments were a "joke".
She added: "I walked out and said to my husband that I feel hurt that he could ridicule my weight.
"His response was, 'you’re being childish. It was a joke.' I walked off upstairs and he said, 'come on, you’re being silly. It was a f***ing joke'.
"For me, it’s not. He knows I had nearly suffered from an eating disorder when I was younger, and we were together [at first] I was so scared about getting fat.
"I just feel hurt that he thinks it’s OK to make these jests at me and that it’s me being ridiculous. He didn’t stand up for me at all and I think the fact that he laughed made me wonder what he actually thinks of me.
"To be honest, I’m just really upset that he just laughed. If someone said that my husband was fat or skinny or whatever, I would stand up for him."
Commenters on the Mumsnet post were sympathetic toward the woman, as many of them said that her mother-in-law's statements were "cruel jibes" rather than jokes, and were not funny.
One person said: "Making cruel jibes is not a joke. I would be very upset with both of them."
While another added: "It was bad enough, but to be called childish and told it was a joke. He is being vile! That is totally unacceptable. I am raging on your behalf."
And a third wrote: "It's fat-shaming and it's definitely not okay."
