It can be tempting to immediately go out and show off your new tattoo, but there are rules you must follow or risk completely ruining your new inking. There are guidelines to follow after getting a new tat - from not putting it directly into the sunlight, avoiding getting it wet, and not going tanning.
Unfortunately, some people are a bit too eager to flash their permanent inking - and it can lead to some terrible results. Social media star Jackie Florez was left facing the consequences of her actions after avoiding the "basic aftercare rules" - as she took to TikTok to show the result.

In typical holiday spirit, Jackie decided to get a new tattoo after jetting off to sunny holiday destination Cancun.
Sharing photos of her new ink, the tattoo - which now looks incredibly sore - consisted of the design of a dragon with a delicate flower underneath.
The medium-sized tattoo trailed from the bottom of her neck and down to the back of her shoulders.
Wanting to show off the exciting addition to her skin, the video on social media app TikTok - which has already surpassed 28.4 million views to date - detailed how Jackie went tanning on a boat.
The video used a popular voiceover audio, which said: "Yep, that's me... You're probably wondering how I got into this situation."
From getting her tan on at sea to the tattoo looking rather sore - it was safe to say that her trip was quite eventful.
Whilst photos show that the tattoo appears infected, an educated viewer described it as "just the hydro patch soaking up excess plasma".
Taking to the comment section, viewers shared their concern of how Jackie didn't follow the "basic rules" of looking after her skin.
One viewer penned: "Don’t get fresh tattoos in the sun even if the sun isn't warm don’t sit them in the sun."
A second joked: "Quite literally the most basic aftercare rules lol"
"To be fair they tell you the dos and donts before and after getting tattooed," a third wrote.
"If you’re not gunna listen then be prepared for things like this to happen."
