Woman's 'day made' at Morrisons checkout

A woman who was having a bad day had it 'turned around' by the kindness of a Morrisons worker.

In a Facebook post, the woman described her day, in which 'everything was going wrong', before she entered the store in St Helens.

When attempting to pay for her shopping using Apple Pay, an error meant that her card was declined.

The woman said she was 'mortified' and was about to put the items back on the shelves.

But she was stopped by a member of staff manning the self checkouts, who decided to pay for the items herself.

The kind gesture left the shopper 'emotional'.

Her Facebook post said: "Just want to say a huge thank you to the lovely lady who was working on the self checkouts today in Boundary Road Morrisons.

"I was having a really bad day, everything was just going wrong, the weather was terrible, I’d been out all day, hadn’t [eaten] or drank anything, my shoes were soaking wet from the rain, I’d missed my bus and to top it off I had the worst migraine and toothache ever.

"I was getting my food and only had change on me, I have Apple Pay on my phone but I’ve changed addresses so my new card has gone to my old address so when I went to pay the extra 65p, my card was declined, I was mortified as I thought I’d still be able to use my Apple Pay and as I walked off to put what I’d got back, the lady who was working on the self checkouts was paying the rest for me

"I just wanted to say thank you again. I know it probably sounds daft over 65p but it meant a lot to me. I felt really emotional when I left. Thank you so much, you really made my day!"

The post received many comments commending the actions of the Morrisons worker.

One comment said: "You never know what day a person is having. And one act of kindness could change a persons day. It takes nothing to be nice. And yes like the kind lady who works in Morrisons, we need more people like her."
