Woman's body pulled from River Taff

Police have said that a body pulled from the River Taff last week has been identified as that of a 33-year-old woman. A statement from South Wales Police said that she was from the Whitchurch area of Cardiff.

The woman's next of kin have been informed and a file of evidence is being prepared on behalf of HM Coroner. Emergency services had been called to the Castle Street/Cardiff Bridge area shortly after 3pm on Friday afternoon (November 4).

Police, fire crews and paramedics were all in attendance, and there was heavy traffic in the area near the city's Holiday Inn hotel and one of the entrances to Bute Park. A member of the public reported to police that they had seen someone in the water, and it was confirmed shortly before 4.40pm that a body had been recovered.
