Woman's £1 high heel hack will 'stop' you getting blisters during festive party season

It's that time of the year again when many of us commit to many social occasions in short succession. Christmas parties, fancy meals with friends, Boxing Day drinks, New Year's Eve drinks, you name it.

If you're pulling out your best heels so you can look absolutely fabulous, you might be worried about what state your feet are going to be in come January 1.

Standing on heels all day can be knackering, and if your foot is slipping around while you're dancing, it can cause some nasty blisters to form.

Lisa Kay, founder and CEO at bunion and wide fit footwear specialists Sole Bliss, has shared a great hack that claims to prevent you from getting sore blisters after an evening on your feet.

She recommends using deodorant on your feet to stop the chafing, which will only cost you about £1 from your local supermarket and it might stop you needing to fork out on expensive blister plasters later.

Lisa said: "A wonderful and very cost-effective heel hack to stop rubbing is by adding a roll-on deodorant to the sides of your feet, which is a cheap £1 hack.

"This will create a barrier between your skin and the shoe that will help to prevent that horrible heel chafing.

"As you wear heels through the night, your feel can naturally get sweaty and the deodorant will help keep that moisture at bay where you can start to feel irritation and blistering."

There are other things that can help you too, such as wearing your shoes around the house before you wear them out.

Lisa recommends wearing socks with your heels while you to small jobs around the house, as this will "make the material a little less stiff when you come to wearing them outdoors and you have protected your feet from rubbing and blisters in the meantime".

Before you head out, you should also try stretching your feet with some simple foot exercises to warm up the muscles because cold muscles can easily cramp up, Lisa explained.

"Moving your toes up and down will get the middle tendon on your foot ready for a long night ahead," she added.

If all else fails, there's no harm in putting a couple of emergency blister plasters in your bag just in case.

Lisa said: "Always carry a couple of different sizes with you for the different parts of your feet and you won’t be sorry if you need them for your second wind on the dance floor."
