Woman rushed to hospital with head injuries after row outside luxury hotel

A woman was rushed to hospital with head and face injuries after an assault outside a city centre hotel.

Merseyside Police rushed to Old Hall Street at around 2am on Friday, January 14, after reports of a row outside the Innside Hotel.

A woman approached a couple who were outside the hotel and they started rowing in the street.

The suspect was then reported to have assaulted the woman, who was rushed to hospital for injuries to her head and face.

CCTV shows multiple people tried to intervene and stop the assault before the suspect ran away from the scene.

A short time later police arrested a 27-year-old woman from the Glasgow area on suspicion of Section 18 Assault, in connection with the incident.

Police said the victim was 'extremely shaken' by the incident.

CCTV and witness enquiries remain ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact police.

Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said: “We simply will not tolerate such violence on our streets and we are working to find the person responsible for this attack and bring them to justice.

“While we have made one arrest, our enquiries continue, and we would appeal for anyone who witnessed the attack or with any information, to come forward and assist our ongoing investigation.

“Our CCTV enquiries so far show that several people in the area attempted to intervene to stop the assault. If this was you then please come forward as information you hold could be vital.

“Similarly, if you were in the Old Hall Street area in the early hours of the morning and captured anything on mobile phone or dashcam footage, then please let us know.

“Liverpool is one of the safest cities in the UK – it has been awarded Purple flag status for over a decade and you are far more likely to enjoy a safe and enjoyable night out than witness or experience appalling incidents such as this. If you have any information, please come forward and help keep our streets safe.

“Whether you let us know directly, or anonymously, through Crimestoppers, please contact us and we will take action.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Merseyside Police social media desk via Twitter @MerPolCC or Facebook Merseyside Police Contact Centre with reference 22000030870.
