Woman rushed to hospital after two vehicle smash near Bellfield Interchange

A woman has been rushed to hospital tonight after being involved in a two vehicle smash on one of Ayrshire's busiest roads.

Emergency services raced to the A71 near the Bellfield Interchange just before 5pm.

The female driver of one of the vehicles was rushed to Crosshouse Hospital by ambulance following the crash.

The extent of the injuries sustained by the woman has not been disclosed by officials this evening.

Drivers also reported huge delays in the area following the serious smash.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 4.45pm on Friday, February 17 officers were called to a report of a two vehicle crash on the A71 near the Bellfield Interchange, Kilmarnock.


"The female driver of one of the vehicles was taken to University Hospital Crosshouse by ambulance.

"Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances."
