Woman rushed to hospital after being hit by bus in Edinburgh

A woman has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a bus in Edinburgh.

Emergency services raced to Chambers Street in the capital after the alarm was raised at around 11pm on Wednesday.

Ambulance crews attended and the woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Pictures shared with Edinburgh Live showed the area cordoned off as cops quickly locked down the scene.

Locals spotted multiple police vehicles at the scene, with the bus involved remaining on Chambers Street while officers launched an investigation. The road reopened at around 2.40am this morning.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11pm on Wednesday March 15, police were called to the Chambers Street area of Edinburgh, following a crash involving a bus and a female pedestrian.

The woman was taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries, and the road reopened around 2.40am.”
