Woman runs out in PYJAMAS and landlady goes 'warrior mode' as girl in hit-and-run crash

A woman ran outside in her pyjamas to help a young driver who was involved in a hit and run crash.

Eyewitnesses described how locals jumped into action to help the motorist in Merseyside on Thursday.

Cops were called out to the smash which involved a Range Rover, a Seat Ibiza and a parked Kia Picanto which was unoccupied.

Fortunately only slight injuries were reported to the Seat driver, described as a young girl, but the Range Rover allegedly made off without stopping.

One woman training to be a paramedic had emerged in her pyjamas to help, reports the Liverpool Echo.

A picture from the scene shows the Seat with smashed windows and debris strewn across the street.

An eyewitness to the crash said: "The driver was super lucky. It could have been a fatality".

The community "sprang into action" and were led by Delia, the landlady of a local pub called the Hobo Kiosk, who "snapped into warrior woman mode".

She said: "All I heard was this massive bang. I knew it was vehicle related so I ran out to see what I could do.

"Lots of residents and people from the Baltic Hotel came out.

"I asked people to call the emergency services and we basically stopped traffic from coming up and down the road as we didn't want anyone driving through the debris.

"The driver was a young girl - she was very lucky as her injuries were not too serious but the car was a write-off."

She added: "The main thing for me was how the community came out and everyone was so helpful. Everyone was concerned.

"There was a young woman training to be a paramedic who came out in her pyjamas and spent some time with the lady in the car."

The injured woman was taken into the pub where some regulars remained with her while she waited for a lift.

Delia said: "The girl was very, very shaky. Luckily she was okay but the noise was so loud it must have involved a big car."

She praised the actions of the police who were on the scene quickly and helped tidy up the road but insisted it was the community effort which she was happy to see.

The landlady added: "We're a community pub and we're proud of the community around us.

"We also had people from outside the city in the pub who witnessed how everyone came together.

"An instance like this where people come together to support and help each other is a real positive thing."

Merseyside Police is appealing for information about the incident.

A spokesperson for the force said: "If you witnessed this incident or captured a dark Range Rover in the area around this time on dashcam or other devices, please contact us @MerpolCC or Crimestoppers anonymously."
