Authorities in New York City are investigating a disturbing incident where a woman was raped at knifepoint near a popular beach boardwalk in Brooklyn. The New York City Police Department reported that the assault took place around 9 p.m. on Sunday night in the vicinity of Surf Avenue and West 16 Street in Coney Island.

According to the NYPD, the 46-year-old female victim was approached by two unidentified individuals who forced her to the ground by holding a knife to her throat. One of the individuals proceeded to sexually assault the victim while a 34-year-old male, believed to be her boyfriend, attempted to intervene and was struck with an object by the second individual.

The female victim was subsequently taken to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. Her male companion declined medical attention. The suspects have been identified as David Davon-Bonilla, 24, and Leovando Moreno, 37, both of whom are homeless.

Davon-Bonilla, who is facing charges including first-degree rape and sexual abuse, is reported to be a migrant from Nicaragua. Moreno has been charged with second-degree assault. The incident occurred outside a hotel that houses asylum seekers, and Davon-Bonilla had a prior arrest in early April for a criminal sexual act, according to NYPD sources.

The NYPD is actively investigating the case, and anyone with information is urged to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
