Woman rages at 'bad human being' who tried to shame her for eating ice cream

We could all be a little bit kinder to one another, and there's no need for any of us to comment negatively on other people's appearances when they're not doing anything to hurt anybody.

And one woman on Reddit has revealed she finally found the courage to stand up for herself after a stranger made a rude comment about her weight in front of her - as she told them they were a "bad human being".

The woman said she would describe herself as "pretty darn overweight", but said that any time she's visited a doctor, she's been told that her bloodwork is "healthy".

She also explained that she loves visiting Dairy Queen - which is a chain of ice cream restaurants in the US - for a "guilty pleasure" treat, and had been walking into the shop when a woman and her son walked past her and she heard the mum say "that's what happens if you eat ice cream".

Outraged, the woman confronted the mum - and told the little boy that it was "better to be fat than mean".

In her post, she said: "Tonight I stopped by Dairy Queen on my way home, finished ordering and was patiently waiting for my ice cream to be made when this woman walked past with a 7-year-old kid in tow.

"The child made a face when he looked at me and almost at the exact same time his mother said to him under her breath 'See, that’s what happens if you eat ice cream.' She was staring straight ahead when she said it and avoided eye contact with me.

"I stood in shock for a minute and then had a sort of out of body experience where I found myself shouting at her.

"I told her that what she said was very mean, that life was hard enough without having to deal with bullies and that she should keep her mouth shut if she had nothing constructive to say. I told her to go f**k herself a few times too.

"I finished by telling the kid that she (the woman) was a bad human being and that it was better to eat tons of ice cream and be fat than it was to go around being mean to people for no reason.

"She stood there stunned the whole time."

Confronting the mum left the woman "in tears" when she returned to her car, as she admitted she "felt bad" for swearing in front of her child.

She added: "I then burst into tears and ran off to my car and drove home, I didn’t even end up getting the ice cream I had paid for.

"It’s been a couple of hours since it happened and I’ve almost now stopped hyperventilating and crying, but I’m also sort of starting to feel bad about what happened. I mean, I know she was being an asshole, but the kid seemed pretty upset by the whole exchange and I really feel bad for swearing in front of a child."

But commenters on the Reddit post were supportive of the woman, as they insisted she did the right thing and potentially taught the young boy a valuable lesson.

One person said: "If you hadn’t gone off like that the kid would’ve learned that he could insult random strangers to their faces and get away with it."

As another added: "More people deserve to be called out for their bulls**t. Keep eating your ice cream, babe."

While a third wrote: "What she said was wrong. She deserved it. I’m sorry you didn’t get your ice cream. I hope that lady learned her lesson too."
