Those who struggle with naturally oily hair will know how quickly it can turn greasy with some having to wash it every day. It can be frustrating with many women trying endless shampoos, treatments and scalp scrubs in an attempt to combat the oil but with little luck.
As the Mirror reports, one woman says she's 'cracked the code' of banishing grease in between washes with a simple hack that will cost you as little as £1. People have been praising her for the unusual yet simple hair routine as she's managed to keep oil at bay for days with a trick that takes seconds.

Taking to TikTok to share her hair secret, Alex James, who posts under the handle @ _alexjames admits she's struggled with greasy hair, no matter how many times she washes it. But she now thinks she has found a game-changing trick and says her hair looks fresh for days and is no longer stuck in a cycle of washing it everyday.
Most people use dry shampoo on 'inbetween-days' but the TikToker has found that using it before her hair gets greasy seemed to work and keep oils at bay.
In her viral video, Alex said: "I have figured out the key to making sure your hair doesn't get oily after one day and I'm going to share it with y'all because I feel like this needs to be on the internet.
"My whole life I get greasy hair, oily hair, the same day I shower. I can shower in the morning and by the time I go to bed, my hair is like an oil bomb.
"I have tried training it. When Covid happened, I was like okay this is my time to train my hair to not get oily after one day. It does not work. It's just how my hair works and I have accepted that.
"I have tried so many different dry shampoos, I have tried so many different methods I've tried hydrating my scalp, I've tried masks, I've tried not washing my hair for weeks, nothing works".
After exhausting all other options, Alex stumbled across an unusual trick that has changed her hair game completely.
After putting dry shampoo in her hair and rushing off to class in a sweat, she realised that the perspiration in her locks made her hair feel far cleaner after it air dried.
"I got to class and my hair was sweating a bit so it was a little damp and by the time it air dried, it was clean and then it stayed clean for another three days.
"Put the dry shampoo in your hair, take a little spray bottle, you wet your hair WITH the dry shampoo in it.
"I shower one day, my hair is fine for one day. I do this before I go to bed, the day that I shower and then my hair lasts for three more days
"Once it's thoroughly saturated you just go to bed then it dries then you're good".
While Alex bought a spray bottle in Walmart in the States, you can pick one up in the UK at Boots or Amazon for £1, making this hack super cheap and easy to do.
Explaining another benefit to the little-known hack, the woman said: "It doesn't feel all grainy - you know when you use dry shampoo and your hair feels all dirty, I hate that, I want my hair to feel clean. This makes my hair feel clean and I can go four days between washing my hair. It is amazing."
Thousands of people flocked to the comments section of Alex's video to share their shock at the hack.
One person wrote: "Girl!!!! I have to try this! My hair is the exact same and I am soooo tired of having to wash it everyday or put it up on the second day!"
"I hope this works for my hair because this could save my life. I will literally cry if this works," another wrote.
Hair experts even weighed in on the trick, with one commenting: "Hi!! Hairdresser here, yes dry shampoo should be used on day one! And it will activate when oil or something damp (like sweat) happens".
Another woman thanked Alex for sharing her wisdom: "GIRL I OWE YOU MY LIFE. I TRIED THIS AND WOKE UP TO PERFECT HAIR THIS MORNING !!! THANK YOU"
And a fifth said: "You cracked the code! I've been doing something similar - dry shampoo and detangler for a week. Been wondering why it's been working so well!"
